Thermo Fisher Scientific and BIOCRATES Life Sciences launched a ready-to-use kit for accurate and confident metabolic phenotyping on high resolution mass spectrometry instruments.
The new BIOCRATES AbsoluteIDQ® p400 HR kit is the industry’s first, comprehensive kit for targeted metabolomics analysis, designed to help researchers efficiently unlock the complexity of the metabolome. Taking full advantage of the HRAM capabilities of the industry-leading Thermo Scientific Orbitrap mass spectrometry and BIOCRATES’ metabolic phenotyping technologies, the solution enables multiplexed, quantitative and standardized metabolome analysis at a substantial level of depth.
“This collaboration with BIOCRATES Life Sciences enables us to provide scientists with an important new solution for targeted metabolomics research,” said Andreas Huhmer, director, proteomics and metabolomics marketing, chromatography and mass spectrometry, Thermo Fisher. “Customers now have a standardized approach to quantitative and reproducible sample analysis to help them gain a deeper understanding of the metabolome.”
“The new AbsoluteIDQ® p400 HR Kit extends the highly regarded BIOCRATES metabolomics kit portfolio to take advantage of the multiplexed and quantitative power of Thermo Fisher’s Q Exactive HRAM technology,” said Dr. Therese Koal, head of R&D, BIOCRATES Life Sciences AG. “This will bring the potential for fast, efficient, quantitative metabolic phenotyping with inter-laboratory comparability to the proteomics and metabolomics communities to support metabolomics research and precision medicine opportunities.”
With the new kit, scientists can analyze up to 408 key metabolites, covering 11 central metabolite classes, using just 10 microliters of biofluidic sample volume. Supported by BIOCRATES MetIDQTM software, scientists can achieve automated workflow-controlled processing of up to 82 samples per kit, delivering outstanding longitudinal results, as well as inter-laboratory comparability.
