Learn from the experts ...
Whether you are a beginner or an expert in multi-angle light scattering (MALS), this tutorial series will meet you at your level of knowledge and cover everything from a basic introduction to the technical aspects of MALS measurements to sophisticated applications that will help educate you on MALS. Theoretical aspects will be covered and you will also receive tips to apply directly in the analytical lab.
Tutorial #1: Understanding MALS: From Basics to Applications
This initial tutorial explains the physical phenomenon of light scattering and how it is used to determine molecular weight and size in combination with size separations.
In this tutorial, you will learn:
- The basis for multi-angle light scattering
- How light scattering is used to determine molecular weight and size (radius of gyration)
- How MALS is used to characterize polymeric and biological samples
The Experts
Subin Damodaran
Subin received his doctorate in chemistry from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany, in 2016. During his PhD, he was actively characterizing various finished and semi-finished polymer products using spectroscopic and chromatographic methods. Since 2016, he joined as a product specialist and an integral part of the GPC team of Tosoh Bioscience. He is currently working as a product manager for GPC/SEC instruments, columns, and detectors produced by Tosoh.
Andrea Krumm
Andrea studied biotechnology before gaining a PhD in cancer biology. After four years as an applications specialist for optical analytical devices used in life science research, she joined Tosoh Bioscience GmbH in 2020 as a product manager for bioanalytical solutions covering (U)HPLC columns and MALS detection.
