Developing new biotherapeutics is a complex and costly process. Success hinges on choosing the best drug candidates to advance, which in turn relies heavily on the quality of data generated from protein sample preparation assays. Inconsistent results, capacity limitations, and regulatory compliance challenges can significantly slow down drug development and increase costs.
The AssayMAP Bravo platform is an automated tool for efficient protein and peptide sample preparation in mass spectrometry analysis. Its precise microchromatography technology handles small-scale samples with high throughput. This video application note titled 'Improve Data Quality, Reduce Time to Results, and Simplify Documentation with New Sample Prep Applications and AssayMAP Software Enhancements' showcases how to accelerate biopharmaceutical workflows by improving data consistency and enabling seamless assay transfer between labs.
The AssayMAP Bravo platform offers tangible benefits to biopharmaceutical research:
- Increase throughput: Process 1 to 96 samples in parallel to speed up workflows.
- Reduce error rates: Automation and enhanced error checking minimize human error and variability.
- Improved data quality: Achieve high reproducibility with quantitative binding and low elution volumes. Simplify regulatory documentation.
Specific Use Cases
This automation platform is easy to use, enables walk-up operation, and comes with pre-optimized applications for a wide variety of workflows, including:
- Phosphopeptide enrichment
- Immunopeptidomics
- Antibody drug conjugates
From this presentation and associated resources, you will learn how:
- The power of automated protein sample prep can be leveraged by non-automation experts
- A wide variety of sample prep workflows can be addressed with a small-footprint automation platform
- A single automation platform can be used across the entire drug discovery/development process in regulated and non-regulated labs

Presenter:
Kenda LJ Evans, Ph.D.
Automation Workflow Specialist, Agilent
Kenda received her Ph.D. from The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in the field of pharmacology with a focus on the signal transduction pathway for the Serotonin 1A (5-HT1A) receptor. Kenda’s post-doctoral work occurred at the University of Houston School of Pharmacy where she studied the effects of inverse agonists and antagonists on Beta receptors in both respiratory and cardiovascular models. Kenda then joined Encysive Pharmaceuticals where she was the lead for the high-throughput screening team as well as project manager for target drugs. Following this, Kenda joined PerkinElmer as a high throughput screening field application scientist. For more than thirteen years now, Kenda has been a part of the Automation Team at Agilent and is currently in the role of Automation Workflow Specialist where she is helping researchers find the right solution for their automation needs and working to enable more fully applicated workflows.
